Tear Fund
“Tearfund is a Christian charity which partners with churches in more than 50 of the world’s poorest countries. We tackle poverty and injustice through sustainable development, by responding to disasters and challenging injustice. We believe an end to extreme poverty is possible.
Thousands of people needlessly suffer and die every day because of poverty. But that’s not God’s plan for the world. And God is calling you – all of us – to reach out to people in greatest need. We partner with local churches and organisations who have a crucial role to play in the places worst affected by poverty”.
MAF
Mission Aviation Fellowship is a Christian mission organisation who believe that every community, however remote, should have the essentials for life. Their vision is to see people changed by the love of Christ.
They believe that Jungles, mountains, swamps, insecurity and dilapidated infrastructure are all barriers to receiving physical and spiritual care and a hope for the future so they use planes to overcome these barriers. Their pilots and personnel deliver relief workers, doctors, pastors, school books, food, medicines – everything that can only be safely and speedily transported by air. Their supporters give and pray to make this all possible.
With an MAF plane taking off or landing every six minutes, the need is huge. Will you partner with us?
Compassion
Founded in 1952, Compassion is an international children’s charity who work in 29 countries partnering with 8,500 local churches within communities experiencing poverty. Our heart is to give children and young people the opportunity to thrive and reach their God-given potential both now and into the future.
We believe it’s an injustice that worldwide more than 356 million children live in extreme poverty. And as Christians, we have a biblical call to care for the poor and love our neighbor.
That’s why Compassion works in partnership with local churches to release children from poverty, in Jesus’ name.
We’re a leading authority in holistic child development, giving children support in every core area of their lives. Our programmes support childrens physical and mental wellbeing. They cultivate character and give children and young people the skills, access to education and motivation they need to be self-sufficient in the future. The care is given in the context of a local church community where children and their families can experience practical expressions of God’s love.
Graduates of our programmes often become change makers, bringing hope and transformation to their families, communities, countries and beyond.
International China Concern (ICC)
ICC is a Christian development organization that provides love, hope and opportunity to children with disabilities and strives to end abandonment by keeping families together.
CPAS TODAY
The evangelistic commitment of CPAS over the past 185 years continues to shape our endeavours to support the mission of local churches. In the 21st century this focuses on equipping and resourcing lay and ordained leaders for evangelism and kingdom-building work across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we supported thousands of leaders through regular online events on key topics such as Leadership in Lockdown and Evangelism During Covid, as well as free downloadable resources on everything from running a PCC meeting on Zoom to leading in a crisis.
We were also privileged to engage with the children and young people who would usually take part in Venture and Falcon holidays through virtual events, resources, crafts and gifts through the post, along with local day events.
The vision of our founders to enable churches to reach men, women and children in the UK and Ireland burns strongly in us. Like them, we believe in resourcing leaders - both lay and ordained. Like them, we want every church to be a pathway to faith, every leader to be a catalyst for evangelism, every child to have the chance to explore Jesus and every Christian to be a courageous witness.
And as we do so, we know that were building on the solid foundations of the past
RAINBOW CENTRE
We are passionate about inclusion and being non-judgemental, and respect all those we serve, treating our guests and clients with empathy, consideration, kindness and fairness.
We recognise the support and help other local agencies offer, and know that through collaboration, we can achieve the best outcomes for those who access our services.
Our vision is to help build a community in which everyone is included and can have the opportunity to live and work in dignity with hope for the future. Our approach is to help people out of crises so that they can sustain themselves.
We have, at our peak, over 350 volunteers, without whom the organisation would be unable to offer the range of services dedicated to help the neediest people in our local community.
You can be part of our support team by making a donation to help sustain our presence in the Folkestone ; Hythe district
OPEN DOORS
Open Doors is a non-denominational mission supporting persecuted Christians around the world. They work with local partners to distribute Bibles and Christian literature, give discipleship training and provide practical support, such as emergency relief aid.
Open Doors originated in 1955, when a young Dutchman started smuggling Bibles to the persecuted church in Communist Europe. He became known as Brother Andrew, and his work led to more than six decades of support for the persecuted church.
Every day, millions of Christians risk their lives to follow Jesus. In more than 70 countries Open Doors supports them by supplying Bibles, providing emergency relief and helping persecuted believers stand strong for the long-term.
In the UK and Ireland, Open Doors helps the church to pray, give and speak out for those who share our faith but not our freedom.
A ROCHA
A Rocha UK is an interdenominational Christian charity working to equip Christians and churches to protect and restore the environment – for God, nature and all people.
In the face of accelerating climate change and species loss we need to take action to protect and care for nature now!
A Rocha’s vision is to see: A world of stable climate where oceans, rivers, air and soil are free from human pollution and where all people protect the diversity and abundance of life on Earth. And to restore and maintain the health of our planet’s life sustaining systems.
We, at St. John’s, believe that caring for God’s beautiful world is part of our mission and is a biblical mandate.
